Emergency Services

Women who are looking for a low-barrier, emergency services option arrive through our newly renovated, clean and safe emergency overnight shelter on the first floor of Samaritan House. Upon entry, participants are provided a warm, clean bed and nutritious meals. They are then matched to a Samaritan House facility that best meets their needs.

  • Eligibility: Women who are 18 years old or older.
  • Hours of Operation: 5pm to 7:30am, 365 days a year.
  • Capacity: 40 dorm style beds offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Intake/Admission: Participants should arrive at Samaritan House (2301 Lawrence Street, Denver) by 5pm, when doors open. No need to call in advance. No referral required.
  • Services: Two nutritious meals (dinner and breakfast) and bathroom services (no showers).

Extended Stay Program

Samaritan House Downtown also hosts an Extended Stay program (up to 6-9 months) at 2301 Lawrence Street. This 24/7, 365 days per year sober-living program is available to single women, veterans and families seeking supportive services like case management, individualized goal-setting, holistic wellness, employment readiness, housing navigation, financial and life-skills classes and referrals to community resources. Women 18 and older are referred by community partners. Veterans should visit the Community Resource and Referral Center located at 3836 York St. Denver, CO 80205 and interested families should call the intake line at Samaritan House 720-799-9371.

Samaritan House 48th

Catholic Charities opened its newest shelter in July 2021 - Samaritan House 48th. This low-barrier shelter doubles Catholic Charities’ capacity to serve single women in Denver. Samaritan House 48th provides participants with a clean bed, nutritious meals and additional services, such as counseling, employment support, connection to housing and referrals to community-based resources.

  • Eligibility: Women who are 18 years old or older.
  • Hours of Operation: 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • Capacity: 270 dorm style beds, offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Intake/Admission: Walk-ups accepted 8am through 8pm. No need to call in advance. No referral required. Transportation from Samaritan House on Lawrence Street to Samaritan House 48th (4330 E 48th Avenue in Denver) is also offered daily for those women seeking 24/7 shelter services. Transportation is limited and leaves 2301 Lawrence St by 4:30pm.
  • Services: Three nutritious meals, shower services, laundry services and case management support.

If you see something suspicious and suspect it could be human trafficking, you can take action! 

Report your tip to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

I Need Help Fleeing Domestic Violence

Our shelters are not SAFE houses.  If you're experiencing any kind of domestic violence and feel helpless, please contact The National Domestic Hotline or visit www.TheHotline.org

I Need Help With An Addiction*

If you are motivated to recover from the disease of addiction and ready to rebuild those facets of your life that have been damaged by the cycle of addiction, call Step 13 Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at (303) 295-7837  -  or go to Step13.org for more information.

*While Step 13 is not a part pf Catholic Charities, they are a sister program that collaborates with us on a regular basis.

I am a Veteran

If you are a veteran in need of assistance, resources are available through the Grant and Per Diem Program at Samaritan House. To qualify for this program, go to the VA hospital at Clermont and 9th or the Community Resource and Referral Center at 1247 Santa Fe Dr., Denver, CO 80204.  The VA hospital can refer you to our program.
