Most Coloradans know at least a little something about Samaritan House. The first building in the nation built specifically to serve people experiencing homelessness, Samaritan House has been a Denver staple since 1986. Since that time, thousands of people have been served and found safe shelter, nutritious meals and support services at Samaritan House. Today, our focus is primarily on serving women, men, families and veterans who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. The community we serve has evolved, our mission has not.
Of course, the population in Denver in particular and Colorado more widely has exploded in the past 35 years and the needs surrounding shelter and food insecurity have grown as well. More recently, we’ve seen significant growth in demand because of the pandemic. As a result, more people than ever need a hand up to meet their basic needs.
Thanks to the generosity of community members like you, Samaritan House is today playing a crucial role in supporting people across our community. Our team of volunteers and dedicated staff wake up every morning determined to improve the lives of those they serve.
We’d love for you to get involved. If you or someone you know is in need of support, please call us at (303) 294-0241.
